Belarusians raise €12,000 within a day for former regime prisoner with PTSD
October 15, Pozirk. Belarusians have raised €12,000 for former political prisoner Anastasija Bułybienka in 24 hours, according to the Rozovye Kosynki channel on the Telegram app.
“We aren’t an active foundation, but thanks to the tremendous involvement of Belarusians, volunteers, journalists, the diaspora in Cyprus and other caring individuals, Asia has managed to settle the insurance debt,” the channel said.
Previously, Lithuania-based Bułybienka complained of post-traumatic stress disorder and reported surviving a suicide attempt.
“I am currently in a psychiatric hospital in Lithuania with diagnoses of depression, anorexia and PTSD. Due to insurance debts, I cannot receive treatment for free and have no means to pay for it myself,” she said.
Before the 2020 unrest, Bułybienka was studying at Belarusian National Technical University. A Minsk court sentenced her to 2.5 years in prison for taking part in student protests.
