December 19, Pozirk. Delegates at the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly have elected Andrej Švied, prosecutor general until recently, as chairman of the Supreme Court.
As prosecutor general, Švied played a leading role in the government’s crackdown on Alaksandar Łukašenka’s political opponents. He also initiated a campaign to prosecute Nazi criminals who died years and decades ago.
