US pauses immigrant visa processing for 75 countries, including Belarus

January 14, Pozirk. The United States will pause immigrant visa processing from 75 countries, including Belarus.

Washington accused migrants from these countries of taking “welfare from the American people at unacceptable rates.”

“The freeze will remain active until the U.S. can ensure that new immigrants will not extract wealth from the American people,” the department said on X.

Fox News reported that restrictions also target Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia and Uzbekistan, as well as European countries, such as Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia and Montenegro.

The immigration visa authorizes permanent residence in the country.
