Belarus military delegation visiting Myanmar to to expand ties

January 15, Pozirk. The Belarusian defense ministry delegation arrived in Myanmar two days ago to negotiate an agreement on cooperation between the countries’ military educational institutions, senior defense official Valeryj Ravienka said.
Andrej Harbacienka, head of the Belarusian Military Academy, is expected to visit Naypyidaw soon, the head of the defense ministry’s international military cooperation department said on X.
The Belarusian delegation reportedly discussed bilateral ties with Myanmar’s Defense Minister Maung Maung Aye and agreed on cooperation activities, including education, combat training exercises in Belarus and further contacts.
Yesterday, Belarusian officials also held talks on establishing contacts between representatives of the Belarusian defense industries with relevant units of the Myanmar Armed Forces.
Alaksandar Łukašenka visited Myanmar in late November 2025.
Belarusian officials have sought to expand ties with Myanmar lately. The country has been under military rule after a coup in early 2021, followed by a civil war that has claimed thousands of lives.
