Janina Paźniak, daughter of imprisoned journalist, declared political prisoner
January 23, Pozirk. Human rights defenders have designated Janina Paźniak, daughter of imprisoned journalist Kirył Paźniak, as a political prisoner, reported the Belarusian Association of Journalists.
She was arrested together with her father in early September 2025. Kirył was accused of forming an extremist group, while Janina, 20, is accused of association with the extremist group – charges used by the Belarusian authorities to silence critics.
Both are said to be persecuted in connection with Platforma 375, a YouTube channel declared extremist.
In all, Belarusian human rights organizations identified and documented 1,151 political prisoners as of January 23, according to the Viasna Human Rights Center.
