Opposition leader: meeting with Zelensky marks new chapter in relations with Ukraine

February 14, Pozirk. Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja has highly evaluated her first meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Vilnius on January 25 as she addressed a Belarus-themed panel at the Munich Security Conference today.
The meeting and an invitation to visit Kyiv signal a clear shift in Ukraine’s stance, the politician said, indicating that Ukraine is now prepared to engage with Belarusian pro-democracy forces after years of caution.
The Belarusian opposition began noticing a shift in Kyiv’s position about a year ago, as contacts with Ukrainian officials steadily increased, she added.
“We cannot give billions and we cannot give Ukraine military equipment, but we can show our solidarity,” the politician stressed.
The sides may start developing a joint Belarusian-Ukrainian strategy to help Ukraine win the war as the fate of Belarus depends on Ukraine’s victory, Cichanoŭskaja said, commenting on her upcoming visit to Kyiv.
