Number of fake dollar bills soars in Belarus in 2022

December 30, BPN. Authorities detected a total of 705 counterfeit banknotes from January to September, a 9.9 percent increase year on year, the National Bank’s press office reported.

Most of the bills were US dollars (595 banknotes; +87.7 percent), including 462 false 100-dollar bills.

The number of counterfeit Belarusian rubels rose by 75 percent, while the number of fake Russian rubles fell by 68.5 percent and euros, by 27.3 percent.

More than half of the fake banknotes were detected in Minsk.
