Cichanoŭskaja calls for release of all political prisoners on Sieviaryniec’s birthday

December 31, BPN. Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja congratulated jailed Christian Democrat Pavieł Sieviaryniec on his birthday. He turned 46 on December 30.

“The prominent politician and co-founder of the Belarusian Christian Democracy party spends his third birthday in prison today. He must be released immediately together with all political prisoners,” she tweeted.

On May 25, 2021 the Mahiloŭ Regional Court sentenced him to seven years in prison on charges of organizing mass riots.

On August 27, 2021 the Supreme Court rejected an appeal against the sentence.

On March 23, 2022 the interior ministry blacklisted Sieviaryniec as someone it believes is involved in extremist activities.
