Cichanoŭskaja to speak at Davos forum
January 3, BPN. Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja will speak at the World Economic Forum (WEF), which will be held in Davos from January 16 to 20.
The politician’s press office said she “will speak on the main stage along with heads of state.”
“Cichanoŭskaja plans to draw attention to Belarus’ role in the new security architecture in Europe, to prevention of the use of Belarusian territory in the war against Ukraine, and to political prisoners and repression,” it said.
The World Economic Forum is a Swiss-based non-governmental organization best known for organizing annual meetings in Davos. Famous businesspeople, leading economists, political leaders, intellectuals and journalists are invited to these meetings to discuss the world’s most topical problems.
Official Belarusian delegations have not been invited to the WEF since 1992, when Chairman of the Supreme Soviet of Belarus Stanisłaŭ Šuškievič addressed the forum. Dzianis Kolha, the founder of the Global Shapers’ hub in Minsk, attended the forum in 2016.
