Tank battalion sent to Minsk region in a drill
January 9, BPN. Belarusian military commanders have sent a main battle tank battalion of the 19th Separate Mechanized Brigade from its base in Zasłonava, Viciebsk region, to Barysaŭ, Minsk region, for exercises.
“Tank crews are driving to the 227th combined arms training ground, where the control exercises will be held,” the defense ministry’s press office said.
The 7th engineering regiment (Barysaŭ) set up a pontoon crossing over the River Biarezina for the tanks, it added.
The drills are taking place amid a national drive to verify draft-age Belarusians’ data and Russia’s war against Ukraine. The Belarusian leadership supports the Kremlin in its aggression, but officials deny that the Belarusian army has participated in battles alongside Russian troops.
