Ukraine’s General Staff reports growing threat of missile, air attacks from Belarus
January 16, BPN. As Belarusian and Russian air forces conduct a tactical exercise, the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ General Staff has said “the threat of missile and air strikes directly from Belarus’ airspace” is growing.
“Under the guise of joint training, the enemy has strengthened the combat air group in Belarus,” it said in its evening report.
The exercise began on January 16.
During the drill, which is expected to continue until February 1, aircrews reportedly plan to practice air reconnaissance, air support of ground troops, deployment of tactical airborne troops, and other missions.
“All airfields and ranges of Belarus’ Air/Air Defense Force will be involved in the exercise,” the Belarusian Ministry of Defense said today.
In the evening of January 15, it said units of the Russian Space Forces were arriving at Belarusian airfields.
