KGB brands rock band as extremist group
January 20, BPN. The Committee for State Security (KGB) has blacklisted The Tor Band from Rahačoŭ, Homiel region, as an extremist group, adding a corresponding entry to the list displayed on the interior ministry’s website.
The Tor Band gained popularity during the 2020 post-election protests for its signature protest songs.
In late August 2022, authorities blacklisted its information products, social media and logo as extremist content.
Police arrested musicians Jaŭhien Burło, Andrej Jaremčyk, Dźmitryj Hałavač and their wives in late October. They remain in custody as authorities keep giving them consecutive 15-day jail terms for alleged minor offenses.
