January 31, BPN. A court in Belarus sentenced cameraman Pavieł Padabied to 15 days in jail for “dissemination of extremist content,” a charge often used to silence regime critics, human rights groups report.
It is unclear when exactly the guilty verdict was announced. Police reportedly arrested Padabied on January 20, and also searched his home.
Pro-government media published a picture of his press ID from the days he worked at the now-defunct BelaPAN media company.
