Łukašenka to visit Iran “soon”
February 11, BPN. Alaksandr Łukašenka says he will visit Tehran soon to discuss Belarusian-Iranian relations and world events.
“I look forward to visiting Tehran soon to discuss current issues pertaining to bilateral, regional and international agendas,” he told Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in a congratulatory letter on the 44th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.
Łukašenka stressed that “Belarus has always been close to Iran, remained faithful to friendship and equal dialogue, and was responsible about implementing agreements.”
Trade between the two countries amounted to $33.3 million in 2021. Last year’s stats haven’t been published yet, but, according to Iranian Ambassador to Belarus Saeed Yari, who is quoted by the state media, trade increased by a factor of three, probably approaching $100 million.
