Cichanoŭskaja wants Euronest PA to formalize participation of Belarusian democratic forces
February 20, BPN. Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja has expressed hope that the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly will embrace Belarusian democratic forces and political parties.
Addressing the Euronest PA session in Chișinău via video link, Cichanoŭskaja pointed at “Belarusians’ European aspirations.”
“We only have future in Europe,” she said, urging support for these aspirations.
She said the Eastern Partnership, the EU’s initiative aimed at cooperation with some of the former Soviet countries, should be more than a “formal platform” and help promote democratic values.
Euronest PA is a parliamentary forum aimed at political interaction and economic integration between the EU and its eastern partners.
