Expulsion of Russia, Belarus to make OSCE meaningless – Belarusian MP
February 23, BPN. Belarusian MP Andrej Savinych has told the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly that expulsion of Belarus and Russia from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe would make it completely meaningless.
“The remarks by a British MP, who suggested expelling Belarus and Russia from the OSCE, look particularly illogical,” Savinych said in Vienna, according to a video clip published on his Telegram channel.
“Do you ignore logic to the extent of not realizing that in reality these countries’ departure would mean your organization losing any meaning? You can always hold your get-togethers in the NATO headquarters,” he said.
In addition to an official Belarusian delegation, Vienna is visited by Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja. At today’s meeting with envoys to the OSCE, she called on the organization to restart the Moscow Mechanism for recording and investigating human rights abuses in Belarus.
