Belarusian border guards deny reports of gunfight on Ukraine border
February 26, BPN. The State Border Committee of Belarus has denied reports of a gunfight on the Belarusian-Ukrainian border.
“A number of online sources, primarily the destructive ones, quoted Ukrainian media as saying that a gunfight allegedly broke out on the border with Ukraine on February 25 this year,” the committee said in a press release.
It suggested that these reports “have nothing to do with reality: there were no incidents involving the use of weapons. Border guards did not open fire.”
Border service units remain in their positions of permanent deployment, it added.
On February 26, Ukrainian defense analysis project DeepState reported that the Volyn region’s territorial defense soldier was killed one day earlier in a gunfight started by “unknown persons from Belarus’ territory.”
