Belarus extradites single father to Russia over child’s drawing
April 12, BPN. Belarus has extradited Russian national Aleksey Moskalev to his homeland, Russian human rights group OVD-Info said, quoting a lawyer who tried to visit him in Žodzina’s prison on April 12.
At the same time, a prison official in Žodzina refused to tell Moskalev’s whereabouts to OVD-Info. A lawyer representing the man in Russia said he had not been informed of the extradition.
On March 30, Moskalev was detained at Russia’s request in Minsk, where he had fled from house arrest ahead of the trial that sentenced him to two years in prison for spreading “deliberately false information” about the Russian Armed Forces.
Moskalev’s 13-year-old daughter, whom he was raising alone, was placed in a shelter in the Tula region. The Russian authorities started persecuting the Moskalevs after the girl drew an antiwar picture in school.
