May 2, BPN. Draft-age Belarusians who have taken part in the Armed Forces’ latest combat readiness check are going home, the defense ministry in Minsk said.
The drill began on April 3, as ordered by Alaksandr Łukašenka. It took place as Russia continues its war in Ukraine, with the assistance of Belarusian officials. There have been other drills since the aggression began.
Commenting on the check, Security Council head Alaksandr Valfovič said Belarus could mobilize some 1.5 million people, “who will be defending their country with arms in their hands if necessary.”
