May 6, BPN. Authorities have released Połack museum researcher Ihar Bortnik after he had spent 38 days in jail, a source who wished to remain anonymous told BPN.
Bortnik served a total of three jail terms consecutively for sharing opposition content and allegedly violating the order of holding mass events. He reportedly developed health issues while in custody.
Bortnik suffers from post-surgery complications following the removal of an intervertebral hernia. Authorities kept him in custody despite available health certificates and refused to accept parcels from his family members.
Bortnik was arrested during a police raid in Połack and Navapołack in late March.
