Law enforcers open criminal case against Warsaw-based activist

June 21, BPN. Law enforcers in Belarus have filed a criminal case against Alaksandr Zarembiuk, claiming that he leads a Belarusian volunteer unit fighting Russia in Ukraine.

“Law enforcers claimed that I lead the Kalinoŭski regiment, which is untrue,” the head of Belarusian House Warsaw has told BPN.

“Investigative Committee officers carried out two searches – where I’m registered, and where my parents live,” he said.

Zarembiuk said his parents were frightened by the officers, describing the probe as a form of pressure.

Belarusian House Warsaw stands for human rights, democratic development and open society.

Zarembiuk left Belarus more than 10 years ago.
