June 27, BPN. Some 11,000 foreigners, from high-skilled to ordinary workers, were employed in the Belarusian economy in 2022, said Alaksiej Biahun, the interior ministry’s top migration official.
Over the past two years, more Belarusians travelled abroad for work and fewer foreigners chose to work in Belarus, he noted. He linked the trend to Western sanctions and Belarus’ economic shift to Russia and the Eurasian region.
The foreign labor force peaked in 2018-2019, with 20,000 foreign workers registered in Belarus, he added.
