EU slaps sanctions on 12 Belarusian officials

December 19, Pozirk. The European Union yesterday included 12 Belarusians and one Ukrainian of Belarusian origin in its 12th package of sanctions in a continuing effort to punish Minsk and Moscow for their hostility toward Ukraine.
It named them as:
- Vasil Hierasimaŭ, chairman of the State Control Committee
- Leanid Davidovič, commander of Air Base 61 (Baranavičy, Brest region)
- Alaksandar Dakučyc, head of the Brest’s branch of Biełaeranavihacyja, which provides air navigation services
- Vital Jafanaŭ, head of the Air/Air Defense Forces’ training rage near Damanava, Brest region
- Galina Katyushenko, a Belarus-born Ukrainian national who was a member of the Opposition Bloc, a pro-Russian party in Ukraine, and sided with Russia after its invasion
- Alaksiej Łabko, head of the Abuz-Lasnoŭski training range in the Brest region
- Siarhiej Łahadziuk, deputy head of the General Staff in charge of the main operational command
- Aleh Miščanka, first deputy chair of the State Defense Industry Committee
- Pavieł Muraviejka, first deputy head of the Belarusian Security Council
- Alaksandar Rachmanaŭ, deputy head of the Belarusian Security Council
- Valeryj Ravienka, head of the defense ministry’s international cooperation department
- Viačasłaŭ Rasałaj, deputy chairman of the State Defense Industry Committee
- Uładzimir Čaravuchin, head of Biełaeranavihacyja’s Homiel branch
Earlier, the EU imposed sanctions on Minsk for its crackdown on dissent and support for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The measures included travel bans and asset freezes on officials and entities, as well as trade and financial restrictions.
