New criminal case to be opened against Statkievič – ByPol

January 10, Pozirk. Mikałaj Statkievič, a prominent social democrat serving time in a penal colony in Hłybokaje, Viciebsk resion, has been transferred to the colony’s internal prison (PKT), according to the ByPol association of former law enforcers.
The colony’s administration repeatedly subjected Statkievič to disciplinary sanctions last year, it said. In addition, authorities collected “evidence” to charge him with malicious disobedience and add at least six months to his current sentence.
Plainclothes officers arrested the Narodnaja Hramada leader in Minsk on May 31, 2020.
In December 2021, a judge sentenced him to 14 years in a maximum-security colony for allegedly organizing mass riots.
His wife Maryna Adamovič said yesterday that she had been in the dark about him for 11 months.
