Statkievič’s wife jailed for 15 days

January 24, Pozirk. Maryna Adamovič, wife of prominent opposition politician Mikoła Statkievič, has been jailed for 15 days, the Viasna Human Rights Center reports.
A Minsk judge found her guilty of petty hooliganism.
Police arrested her yesterday during a raid targeting political prisoners’ families.
Her husband is serving a 14-year prison term on charges widely seen as politically motivated.
Adamovič was arrested amid a large-scale police crackdown on an opposition network of assistance to political prisoners.
At least 84 people were detained and interrogated, Viasna said.
Some were arrested, others were searched and released. Those released received gagging orders.
The exact number of detainees is unknown. During the raids, Committee for State Security (KGB) officers produced warrants with references to extremism-related articles of the Criminal Code.
Some of the arrests were linked to INeedHelpBY, a group that helps repression victims with food, unconfirmed reports said. One day earlier, the KGB declared it an extremist organization.
