Łukašenka demands measures to stop graduates leaving

February 13, Pozirk. More than 50 percent of Belarusian students are not satisfied with the quality of education, Alaksandar Łukašenka has told university rectors.
“You are not keeping up with technology and graduates have to complete their studies at the production facilities. Who needs such ‘specialists’?” Pul Pervogo, his press office’s unofficial Telegram channel, quoted him as saying.
Łukašenka, who appoints university rectors, accused them of lacking initiative.
“Let me remind you that you are not businesspeople, you are university rectors, and you must think as the authorities do,” he said, noting that universities should prepare graduates to contribute to the Belarusian economy.
The Belarusian ruler also lashed out at the economy, labor and education ministries, urging them to focus on universities.
By September, the rectors must come up with proposals to improve training and prevent graduates from emigrating, Łukašenka said.
