February 16, Pozirk. Police in Minsk have arrested Dźmitryj Kučuk, former chairman of the Belarusian Greens Party that was dissolved by the government, the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada) reported.
Kučuk planned to lay flowers and light lamps near Moscow’s embassy in memory of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
Navalny died today in Russia’s “Polar Wolf” prison colony.
“Kučuk managed to report that there were many OMON [special task police] officers near the embassy,” the BSDP said.
After arresting the politician, officers took him to the Central District Police Department in Minsk.
