Bulgaria, Romania to start issuing Schengen visas in Minsk

March 29, Pozirk. Romanian and Bulgarian embassies in Minsk will start issuing Schengen visas to Belarusians on April 1 as both countries will partially join the Schengen zone on March 31.
Schengen short-term visas allow entry into the Schengen zone for up to 90 days during any 180-day period, the Romanian embassy said on its website. The applicants have to apply for a tourist visa in the country that is the main destination of their trip, it added.
The VFS Global visa services company will accept Schengen visa applications in Minsk, Brest, Baranavičy, Viciebsk, Homiel, Hrodna, Lida, Mahiloŭ and Pinsk in addition to the Bulgarian embassy’s consular department.
On March 7, Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja urged Romanian Foreign Minister Luminița-Teodora Odobescu to issue multiple entry Schengen visas to Belarusians.
Over the past few years, Belarusians have been experiencing difficulties in making Schengen visa appointments. Reports say that intermediaries often offer appointments for a fee of up to €300 with a waiting time of six months.
