Another group sentenced in Baranavičy over 2020 protests

April 15, Pozirk. On April 11, Judge Ina Paŭłoŭskaja in Baranavičy, Brest region, sentenced nine locals to prison terms on protest-related charges, the Brest branch of the Viasna Human Rights Center reported.

Eduard Apanovič and Alaksiej Leskaviec were given 18 months in prison each; Alena Stachiejka, Volha Tadro, Dźmitryj Abramovič, Aleh Arciuch, Aleh Siarhiejeŭ, Dźmitryj Huta and Viačasłaŭ Škućko, one year each.

All nine were accused of chanting protest slogans, waving white-red-white flags and obstructing traffic during August 2020 postelection protests.

In early April, the same court sentenced eight people to prison terms ranging from one to three years in a similar case. None of them pleaded guilty.
