Belarus puts MRLS battalion on stand-by amid reported military build-up at Ukraine border

June 28, Pozirk. A multiple-rocket launcher (MRLS) battalion has been deployed and is on stand-by, the Belarusian defense ministry reported without specifying location.
The Pałanez system is ready to deliver strikes at a range of up to 300 km within 20 minutes, the ministry stressed.
The press release contains a hyperlink to today’s report by the State Border Committee that border guards spotted Russian Volunteer Corps fighters in Ukraine’s Zhytomyr region close to the Belarusian border. The corps was formed in Ukraine in August 2022 to fight against the government of Vladimir Putin.
Two days ago, Belarusian border guards used weapons and electronic warfare systems to force a reconnaissance drone to land in the Homiel region’s Jelsk district, the press release said.
Earlier, Belarusian border guards discovered a cache with materials used to manufacture improvised explosive devices, it added.
The deployment comes amid Minsk’s concerns about a Ukrainian military build-up at the border.
A week ago, the Belarusian army launched a surprise drill in the Brest and Homiel regions bordering Ukraine.
Kyiv dismissed the build-up accusations as an information campaign to escalate tensions.
