Ukraine says it shot down two missiles fired from Belarus
March 29, BPN. The Ukrainian Air Defense Forces have downed two missiles fired at Liviv from Belarus, the Ukrainian military command reported.
“In the evening of March 28, two X-type missiles targeting the city of Lviv were fired from the territory of Belarus by the occupiers,” the report said. “The radio-technical forces have timely identified and destroyed the targets.”
Ukrainian forces also shot down two operational and tactical drones.
Ukrainian military command repeatedly said that the shelling of Ukraine was carried out from Belarus. It noted that “strategic aviation aircraft were used for missile strikes on facilities in Umań, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Starychi” on March 13. In addition, “Iskander missile systems continue operating from Belarus.”
On February 24, Russia started a war against Ukraine, officially called a “special military operation.” Authorities in Minsk deny Belarusian army troops’ involvement in combat operations on the Russian side. At the same time, Russian army uses Belarus for strikes on Ukraine. Moreover, captured Russian soldiers confessed that they had entered Ukraine from Belarus.
On February 27, Aliaksandr Lukašenka claimed that Belarus was not involved in a war. “We are not at war with them now and we weren’t at that time. No missiles fly there from our territory and there is no need for that. Kyiv and other cities are surrounded. They [the Russians] have occupied some cities. Why fire [missiles] from the Belarusian territories from 200, 300, 400 kilometers away? This is insane and this is why it is a lie. No war from the territory of Belarus,” he said.
