September 19, Pozirk. Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja has nominated Volha Zazulinskaja as the transition cabinet’s social security chief following Volha Harbunova’s resignation three days ago, the cabinet’s press office reports.
The politician asked the Coordination Council to confirm her nominee, known as a human rights defender and the head of the Strana Dlya Zhizni foundation.
Today, both women will present the international humanitarian fund set up to support Belarusian victims of reprisals.
In 2020, Zazulinskaja observed the presidential election in Belarus and volunteered to help victims of police violence. Later that year, she left for Lithuania fearing politically-motivated persecution.
