September 14, Pozirk. Belsat will keep up its operations in Russia despite being considered an “undesirable organization” there, said Alaksiej Dzikavicki, acting director of the Polish-based television station.
The designation was reported by the Russian Prosecutor’s Office yesterday. It accused the station of working to discredit Russia’s domestic and foreign policy, cast it in a negative light and criticize Russian-Belarusian integration.
Belsat will work as before but with extra caution, Dzikavicki said. The editors view Russia’s decision as the highest recognition of independent journalism, he added.
The undesirable organizations are banned from opening branches in Russia and disseminating information there.
