September 17, Pozirk. A Wizzair flight with Belarusian journalist Andrej Mialeška and his daughter who were denied entry to Georgia departed for Warsaw early this morning with an almost 10-hour delay.
The reasons for the delay remain unknown, but it may be a regular problem as the same flight posted a 9-hour delay one week ago.
Mialeška and his family settled down in Batumi, Georgia, after fleeing political reprisals in Belarus three years ago. On September 16, he and his minor daughter returned to Georgia from a trip to Poland but were stopped at the airport.
Georgian authorities gave them back their passports and phones shortly before the boarding of the Warsaw-bound flight started.
Mialeška’s wife and another daughter remain in Georgia.
