USAID chief pledges to support Belarusians’ quest for freedom
September 21, Pozirk. The United States will continue to support the Belarusian people in their “quest for freedom,” said Samantha Power in charge of the US Agency for International Development (USAID), commenting on the USAID Belarus Office opening in Vilnius.
Power praised courage, resilience and Belarusians’ commitment to democracy.
The new office will help USAID “support the Belarusian people in promoting democratic principles, independent media, civil society, and entrepreneurship,” she noted. “This step signals our deepening commitment to investing in Belarus’ development.”
USAID was forced to close its office in Minsk in 2021.
