Investigative report prompts Lithuanian interior ministry to terminate New Belarus ID contract

September 25, Pozirk. The Lithuanian interior ministry has terminated a contract with ID company Garsų Pasaulio after Belarusian journalists reported its ties with the Belarusian government.
Interior Minister Agnė Bilotaitė said that ID production is a sensitive business, and it is therefore crucial that the companies involved should be reliable.
On May 28, the Belarusian Investigative Center reported that the Lithuanian company Garsų Pasaulio, which was designing a New Belarus passport, was linked to Viktar Šaŭcoŭ, a businessman close to Alaksandar Łukašenka.
