Belarus hosts another Russia-Ukraine prisoner of war swap

October 19, Pozirk. A total of 95 Russian soldiers remain in Belarus following yesterday’s prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine, Russia’s defense ministry reported.

The United Arab Emirates assisted in the talks after helping organize a similar exchange involving more than 100 servicemen a few weeks ago, it noted.

Russian soldiers are reportedly receiving psychological and medical care pending their transfer to Russia. 

In February 2022, Russia started a full-scale war against Ukraine. Authorities in Minsk denied the Belarusian army’s involvement in combat operations but allowed Russian troops to attack Ukraine from Belarus on multiple occasions and have persecuted Belarusians for antiwar positions.
