Chișinău investigating voter fraud in Minsk

November 3, Pozirk. Moldovan police have launched an investigation into cases of organized transportation of voters to polling stations for today’s presidential vote, including polling stations at embassies.

Earlier today, Belarusian state-run media reported that hundreds of Russia-based Moldovans are arriving in Belarus to vote at the Moldovan embassy in Minsk.

Organized transportation of voters to polling stations on election day is prohibited in Moldova and carries a fine. The measure was designed to ensure the integrity of the electoral process.

Investigators are particularly interested in air transport activities from Russia to Belarus, Azerbaijan and Turkey, according to the Moldovan police.

Moldovan authorities repeatedly expressed fears that Russia may meddle in the presidential runoff between pro-EU President Maia Sandu and pro-Russian candidate Alexandr Stoianoglo.
