Rubel hits record lows against US dollar, euro at BCSE

November 27, Pozirk. The rubel has depreciated to 3.5330 against the US dollar at the Belarusian Currency and Stock Exchange (BCSE), plunging for the eleventh consecutive trading session.

The Belarusian currency also hit a new record low of 3.7250 against the euro after 3.6670 recorded in March 2022.

The rubel fell to 4.8508 per 10 Chinese yuan but climbed to 3.3073 per 100 Russian rubles.

Last week (November 18–22), the rubel lost 1.39 percent of its value against the dollar, 0.64 percent against the euro and 1.21 percent against the Chinese yuan but gained 0.69 percent against the Russian ruble.

The Belarusian currency lost 4.44 percent of its value against the dollar in the first 10 months of 2024.

Last week, economist Anatol Charytončyk played down fears of rubel depreciation, noting that the rubel has not weakened considerably against the central bank’s basket of currencies, which includes the Russian ruble (60 percent), the US dollar (30 percent) and the Chinese yuan (10 percent).

Nominal average pay up 2.1 percent in October
