EU to hold Belarus solidarity events in Brussels next week

December 3, Pozirk. The European External Action Service (EEAS) will hold Belarus Days in Brussels in the second week of December in cooperation with the European Commission and the European Parliament (EP), its press office said.
The events will “demonstrate the EU’s solidarity and continued commitment to the Belarusian people at the start of the new European legislature, and ahead of the so-called presidential election in Belarus on 26 January 2025,” it noted.
The EEAS invited more than 100 Belarusian pro-democracy activists, international organizations, journalists and artists to participate.
The screening of Motherland, a documentary by Alaksandar Michałkovič and Hanna Badziaka will open Belarus Days on December 9.
The fourth meeting of the EU Consultative Group with the Belarusian pro-democracy forces, launched in June 2023, is scheduled for December 11. The closed-door consultations will be chaired by EEAS Managing Director for Eastern Europe Michael Siebert and Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja.
The high-level conference Standing with the People of Belarus at the EP will conclude the events on December 13. It will demonstrate the EU’s commitment to solidarity with the Belarusian people and focus on a democratic future for Belarus. Cichanoŭskaja and EP President Roberta Metsola are expected to attend its opening.
