European leaders denounce Belarus’ support for Russia’s invasion

June 2, Pozirk. European leaders have condemned any support for Russia’s war on Ukraine at a Vilnius today, according to a statement from Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda.
The event brought together the leaders f the Bucharest Nine (Bulgaria, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Estonia) and the Nordic countries (Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Finland and Sweden).
The politicians said Belarus continues to facilitate Russia’s military operations by allowing the use of its territory and infrastructure. North Korea and Iran provide direct military support, while China remains the main accomplice in Russia’s war, according to the statement.
The leaders also strongly condemned an escalation and Russia’s increasingly confrontational actions against Europe.
According to the statement, Russia’s hybrid threats include sabotage, disinformation, cyberattacks and the instrumentalization of migration, especially at the border between Belarus and NATO. It also mentions information manipulation, interference in electoral processes, using the so-called “shadow fleet” and air incursions.
By doing so, the Kremlin seeks to destabilize security, weaken support for Ukraine and undermine societies, the leaders asserted.
On February 24, 2022, Moscow launched a full-scale war against Ukraine with Minsk’s support. Even though Belarusian territory and infrastructure were used for the offensive, several rounds of negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv took place in Belarus at the beginning of the war.
