Opposition activist buried in Minsk after mysterious death
July 27, Pozirk. Źmicier Kaśpiarovič, a former member of the Belarusian Popular Front’s governing council, was buried in Minsk yesterday after friends found him with a basilar skull fracture in his Polish home last month.

Leftist politician Siarhiej Vaźniak said on Facebook that three former presidential candidates, namely Ryhor Kastusioŭ, Taćciana Karatkievič and Hanna Kanapackaja, attended the funeral.
Ihar Lalkoŭ, a former deputy chairman of the Belarusian Popular Front party, handled the funeral arrangements after Kaśpiarovič’s remains arrived from Warsaw, according to the post.
Kaśpiarovič had been a nationalist activist since his school days.
In a 2022 interview with Radyjo Svaboda, he revealed that he agreed to cooperate with the KGB to safely leave the country. “I was ready to tell my story to journalists as soon as I crossed the border. To tell the truth is the best defense,” he said.
The circumstances of his death remain unknown to the general public.
