Lithuania to block unused border roads with dragon’s teeth this week

September 2, Pozirk. Lithuania’s military plans to block unused access roads leading to border crossings with Belarus and Russia using dragon’s teeth fortifications this week, LRT reported, citing Armed Forces spokesman Arnoldas Anelauskas.
“We are planning to fortify all 19 remaining border crossings before the end of the week,” Anelauskas said, noting that access roads to 10 crossings have already been closed.
The dragon’s teeth barriers are part of a broader fortification strategy, Lithuanian Armed Forces Commander Raimundas Vaikšnoras explained earlier.
According to the military, the measures are intended to reduce the threat of a land invasion from Belarus or Russia and to restrict a potential attacker’s mobility.
At present, only two border crossings—Medininkai and Šalčininkai—remain open on Lithuania’s border with Belarus amid heightened political tensions between the two countries.
