Stryžak leaving BySol over sexual harassment allegations

September 29, Pozirk. Andrej Stryžak, co-founder of the BySol Solidarity Foundation, is leaving the organization after an internal probe into allegations of sexual harassment. The foundation announced this news on its Telegram channel.
The news comes five days after BySol said he would continue working in a “limited format,” without managerial or representative functions. The decision to retain him prompted some of the foundation’s partners to terminate cooperation agreements.
BySol has also announced “structural changes” and “the reformatting” of its board. In addition, the nonprofit said it was forming a working group to “propose amendments to the charter and develop a new algorithm for electing the governing body.”
“We are doing everything possible to ensure that these changes do not affect assistance to repression victims and that BySol remains a strong and effective organization,” the foundation stressed.
Stryžak took to Telegram to confirm his decision to leave BySol. According to him, the decision was not easy. “I will do my best to ensure that the team can survive the crisis without losses. I hope this will restore the trust of Belarusians and international partners in the organization,” Stryžak said.
BySol suspended Stryžak on July 23 after about a dozen of victims complained of sexual harassment.
