Media executive Załatych released from prison
October 23, Pozirk. Authorities have released media executive Kanstancin Załatych from prison, the Belarusian Association of Journalists (BAJ) reported.
He has served his sentence in full.
The Minsk City Court sentenced Załatych, CEO of the privately-owned newspaper Belorusy i Runok, to four years in prison on April 6, 2023, after finding him guilty of insulting the head of state, inciting hatred and other “crimes.” Human rights groups declared him a political prisoner.
Załatych had been under arrest since May 18, 2022.
According to the BAJ, 29 media professionals remain behind bars.
