Belarusian media Plan B designated by Minsk as extremist group
November 13, Pozirk. Belarus’ Committee for State Security (KGB) on November 5 designated Plan B, an independent media organization, as an extremist group.
The designation potentially carries a prison sentence of up to 10 years for anyone charged with creating or being a member of the group. The KGB identified show host Volha Łojka and journalists Andrej Machoŭski and Dźmitryj Smirnoŭ as individuals associated with Plan B.
Łojka, ex-editor of the Tut.by media outlawed by the Belarusian government, went into exile and set up Plan B in June 2023.
Minsk declared Plan B accounts “extremist content” in July 2023, banning users from watching or sharing its shows and posts. In April this year, Łojka was designated as an extremist. She is also on the government’s list of terrorists.
Belarus has blocked access to Plan B since June 2025.
