Russia sentences Belarusian resistance fighter to 22 years in prison

December 18, Pozirk. Russia has sentenced a Belarusian resistance fighter to 22 years in prison for his alleged role in bomb attacks on Russian freight trains in Buryatia.
Siarhiej Jeramiejeŭ, 54, was also ordered to pay a fine of 1 million Russian rubles ($12,500).
He was found guilty of terrorism and illegal possession and smuggling of explosives.
The trial was held at Russia’s 2nd Eastern District Military Court in Chita, Russia’s Zabaykalsky Krai.
Jeramiejeŭ, a former instrument technician at the Naftan oil refinery in Belarus, was arrested in Russia’s Omsk province in late 2023. Russian investigators accused him of bombing two freight trains that transported fuel and lubricants from Tayshet to Tynda and Neryungri along the Baikal–Amur Mainline.
Five years ago, Jeramiejeŭ participated in a strike at Naftan to protest fraud in Belarus’ presidential election.
