Defense minister: Russia’s Oreshnik on combat duty in Belarus

December 24, Pozirk. Russia’s Oreshnik missile system has been deployed in Belarus and is now on combat duty, Defense Minister Viktar Chrenin told Alaksandar Łukašenka today, according to a video posted by Pul Pervogo, the Belarusian ruler’s unofficial Telegram channel.
Officials also discussed further development of military cooperation with Russia, particularly in the field of rocket construction, Chrenin noted.
Belarus has recently tested the Pałanez-M multiple rocket launchers with increased range and improved firing accuracy, he added, noting a successful experience of modernizing the Buk surface-to-air missile system.
Ivan Tertel, chief of the Belarusian Committee for State Security (KGB), reportedly briefed Łukašenka on his agency’s ongoing activities “in the field of special services within the framework of Belarusian-American contacts.”
He singled out Minsk’s assistance in resolving humanitarian issues in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine as well as “new proposals from the United States on the negotiating track.”
