Cichanoŭskaja on Maduro’s capture: Łukašenka loses another illegitimate ally

January 3, Pozirk. Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja has expressed her solidarity with the people of Venezuela following reports that authoritarian ruler Nicolas Maduro has been captured.
“Today my heart is with the people of Venezuela,” she said on X. “I hope recent events will bring justice, freedom and the rule of law that Venezuelans have long deserved and bravely fought for. Dictators are not eternal — and today, it seems [Alaksandar] Łukašenka has lost yet another illegitimate crony.”
Earlier today, the media reported on the United States strikes against targets in Venezuela, which followed mounting pressure from Washington in the previous months, a US military buildup in the Caribbean and strikes on small Venezuelan vessels accused of shipping drugs. US President Donald Trump said that Venezuela’s ruler Nicolas Maduro and his wife were captured.
Eyewitnesses also reported seeing US aircraft flying over Caracas.
