Belarus’ GDP down 1.2 percent in January-February

March 17, Pozirk. Belarus’ gross domestic product dropped by 1.2 percent in the first two months of 2026, versus a 3.1-percent growth a year earlier, the National Statistical Committee (Biełstat) reported.

GDP growth has been losing momentum throughout 2025. The 1.3-percent increase reported last year fell short of the targeted 4.1-percent expansion.

In 2026, the government expects the economy to grow by 2.8 percent.

The International Monetary Fund forecast Belarus’ economic growth at 1.4 percent in 2026, while the Eurasian Development Bank projected 1.8 percent economic growth. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development lowered its 2026 growth forecast for Belarus to 1.3 percent in its recent review.
